Finished this read after spending over two months trying to get through it. The book is dated and, yes, some of the stories are very good. However, for me it seemed as if the authors were trying hard sometimes just to find a story about someone.

The tales I particularly liked were: "Ingebretsen's: The House That Sausage Built", "Jamie Schell: Day in the Life of a Boy", "Ed. Zunde: Tale of a Latvian Tailer", "Vern Bienfang: Hiring the Handicapped", and "Mary Claire Kent: On Her Way to the Opera."

I know many people really liked this book but I wished that there were summaries of each story so I could decide which to read and which to skip.
