Someone is moving z-list wannabes to the d-list - 'd' for dead, that is. Several truly gruesome murders have occurred and the public and media are utterly hooked - proving that for those who are desperate to be famous, dying really can be a great career move.

But for DI Jessie Driver, running her first murder enquiry, the case looks professinally destructive and personally dangerous. Despite having brains, looks and tight leather trousers, Jessie is in trouble. Her lads club colleagues are trying to stitch her up, she has fallen hard for one of the prime suspects and her hunches aren't paying off.

Will the twited mind of a psychopathic killer defeat her? Or will the relentless hacks, gossips and TV pundits get there first?
