  can you hear it?
men whispering in the morning.
fathers waking their children to say i love you.
to hug them just before they have to go to work and rush out the door for twenty years.
can you listen?
the snow falls slowly outside the apartment.
everyone sleeps silent inside.
he finishes his cigarette, and waits for a new life.
drinks his life away for months at a time.
can you feel?
a worry in each mothers heart.
she crys and only wants her son safe at home.
every phone call is unwelcomed and each knock at the door ruins her head.
what can she expect?
can you taste?
there is worry in this air.
wounded expectations and life happening faster than anticipated.
others help us worry life away.
we are shaking noble kings and queens waiting for our graves.
bones and brain, then ash and frame.
regal rules to live against and passionate dislikes to carelessly underthink.

can you sleep when the door mats all cover a key?
the lights still glow behind every door bell button.

This could be for almost any family, waiting for their own special "someone" to come home - hopefully alive and in one piece. Thank you for sharing with us!
