She was a clear-thinking, level-headed girl, with a petite nose, turtle-shell, wide-frame glasses which hid her large and beautiful gray eyes as the light from her reading lamp glinted off her average mouse brown shoulder length hair. She was so absorbed in her rather large novel she just barely caught the sound of her mother’s voice calling her back from the fiction of her adventure novel. She sat up, the book obscuring her view of her bedroom. It was rather small, but she had never minded, she actually liked it that way. The only furniture in the room was her bed, desk, and nightstand. But the most prominent thing in the room was the stacks and piles of books, which covered all of the little surface space she had. Now that reality had taken hold of her conscience and she had lost the plot train of thought, she marked her page, got off the bed and turned out the light, closing the door behind her. She trotted down the short hallway and into the undersized kitchen. She saw her mother standing at the stove, holding a ragged pot holder in one hand and opening the oven door with another. She went over to the cupboard to take out three dishes and silverware. As Mrs. Bartelli pulled open the door, the sweet scent of roast chicken wafted into the air, to immediately be swept away by her father’s entrance from the chilly, snowy November winds of Chicago. Before the storm door was firmly shut a moment later, small flurries of snow whirled in the room, dancing in the light before melting in the heat of the kitchen, generated by the stove.

Good start. Do you have the plot worked out in your head or just winging it? Good luck!

I am really just wingin' it! There is no plot at all in my head, but I'm positive that it will come to me in time....
