excellent idea to hold members accountable on both sides of the fence~ would save tons of PMing back and forth, I would think also. that would also give the PBS web crew all the info they needed as proof sent/received so less actions needed for them too!

When I send out a book, I PM the member the tracking number. Yet I still find myself having to PM some members a week or so after the book was delivered. to get htem to acknowledge. And there are some members I have to PM a week after my first "Your book was delivered a week ago on..."  message. This is actually becoming more frequent for me, compared to previous years.

I've had people send me the tracking number, but after I've read the message I seldom go back to it to check so having it right there where you can see it in the book area would be great.

Makes me wonder how many complaints about requestors 'not marking books received ' PBS receives in a month. I have had 2 in as many months. I know Thomas complains about an increase in those incidents.

Hi Michelle,

I think you should clarify whether you are suggesting an option for convenience or a mandatory process change.  Your idea starts as an option, ( "...you could enter the tracking number") buts ends as a mandate "... if people had to put in a tracking number".

I'm slightly in favor of having such a box as an option - I wouldn't use it myself, but it might cut down on the number of pointless private messages I receive.
But it runs the risk of increasing conflict in cases where tracking indicates delivery but the item hasn't actually been received. The USPS is known to misdeliver tracked packages; I'm a much better judge of whether I've actually received a package then Delivery Confirmation is.

I'm against requiring entering a tracking number as I think it would increase my effort in mailing without any benefit to me.

Cheers,
-bret
