Has anyone else discovered Brandon Sanderson yet? He's a relatively new young author on the market who I am really enjoying so far. His first book, Elantris, was awesome. And Mistborn book 1 was even more so. Can't wait to see what he does with the whole trilogy because book 1 stood by itself quite well. He's got quite a knack for original and creative ideas... |

Yes. I actually have him as one of my Livejournal buddies and he has the first three chapters posted. I'm so excited! I loves me some Vin. |

Cool - another Brandon fan! I've seen the sample chapters posted, but I decided to just wait for the book to read em. If you get a chance to go to a book signing, do it! I met him at a signing for MB 1 and got my copy signed. He's quite a down-to-earth, approachable guy, and seemed quite thrilled to meet fans. Guess what tag line he wrote in my book? - "There's always another secret" (Which, of course I didn't understand until I had read the book).

These books sound fantastic!! Do you need to read Elantris first or is that a stand alone book? |

Elantris is a stand alone book but quite good and worth the read. :) |

Yes, Elantris is stand-alone, though there's room for sequel(s). I really hope he does eventually do a sequel because it's a really cool world that makes me want to hear more about it. Mistborn, however, is planned as a trilogy with book 2 being released tomorrow, BUT book 1 stands alone quite well, and doesn't leave you in suspense waiting for book 2 to see what happens. For me it just leaves me wanting more about the unique world and magic system, and a couple of questions that were left unanswered. |
