Many people buy books to post-without having read them personally.
Before wrapping a book it would take less than 15 seconds to visually check the book, riffle the pages to check if any are loose or written on, note any stains, or water damage.
This would surely prevent a lot of bad feelings and disappointments.

Oh, yeah, I am guilty of having NOT done exactly that! Thought I looked it over well enough when I got it, but should have given it that "one last once-over look" before we wrapped it!

Hey, is this some kind of public announcement holiday that I don't know about??? Ok, Sheila you get some chocolate kisses thrown at you too for your great announcement!!!  :)

(Sherry whispers to Chris: Do you think she did this just to get the chocolate kisses, since you got some?)

Dont eat the foil.

Good public service announcement.  More kisses for you, Chris!

I agree, we need to check our books one last time before sending them. I try to do it really well when I buy the book, cause I don't want to waste money.  But sometimes I get caught up in the shopping moment.

I agree.  I check the ones I've read as well as the ones I haven't.  I found a couple to have a little looser spines than I remember.  And, I would hate to send off a eight legged friend along with the book.  (Hey, some have been sitting for over a year!)

I sent unpostable book once for just this reason.  I thought I had checked it but I had, in fact, checked another book that looked similar.  Everyone makes mistakes - but most are preventable! :)

Thanks for posting this!  I bought a book at a USB I already had but I knew it was wl here...I flipped through it and found an airline ticket stub and the guy's itinerary which included his name and address!  Yikes!  That could cause problems if gotten into the wrong hands.

Just jumping in to say if you are throwing any of those cherry cordial kisses I want my share!!!!!!!   Two phrases I've gotten a kick out of here this week.   June Cleavered to Death AND I don't know about you but I have a thin film of Monday all over me. Time to go wash it off.   The people on here crack me up at least once a day!!!   I don't know if I'm easily amused or if ya'll are really so fun!!!

I didn't check the first 20 books I mailed out (guesstimate).  Then I drop a book on the floor and a picture falls out that I had used as a bookmark.  Holy cow I'm thinking, what have I mailed to people besides books?  I'm sorta mortified and sorta laughing at myself at the same time.  Now I check EVERY SINGLE BOOK.

I had someone send me a book with a whole bunch of travel papers in it - airline tickets, boarding passes, hotel receipts - the kind of stuff I would save to scrapbook if I went on a trip. I PM'd her about it and she actually fronted me a credit to send the stuff back to her!

I always check my books when I post them and again before I send them.  As was stated earlier some of these books can sit for a year or more and you never know what might happen to them in storage.
