Much more interesting than his 17th century European series, the real people act much like they did in history. You really should read the first of the series, 1812, first.
I enjoyed the continuation of the alternate history started in "1812 the River War". I find Flint's research very good and his characterization of historical characters is well thought out and true to what I know of most of them. I highly recommend this book to fans of Eric Flint and alternate history books.
