1. I know if you have 2 Volumes you're supposed to post them seperately, and if you don't have an ISBN you're supposed to enter the data manually. But if it's a 2 volume set AND there's no ISBN, then can I post them together? No one's going to be looking for a single volume, and it would be less "clutter" in the database.
2. Is there no "History" "Discussion by Genre" section? I only see "Historical Fiction". Is it called something else that I'm just missing. I've got a stack of history non-ISBN books that I'd like to post in a genre forum (as well as the book bazaar) so they'll be seen.
Thanks, now back to wrapping books! Denise |

Denise, 1. You can certainly post them as a set, but you'll only get one credit that way. If you post them separately, you can refer to the others (such as Volume 1 of a two-volume set in the volume 1 description). I would advertise them by adding them to my signature and putting a post up in the book bazaar. 2. It's recommended that you post the items-available in the book bazaar. The other forums are really meant for discussion. But you could advertise your post by putting it in the signature of your account and it will show up in any post that you make. (Though some, like me, turn off the signatures to make it easier to read the forums.) Does that help? |

Yes, thanks ;-) I think the book bazaar frustrates me because it's hard for me to find anything that I like to read (fantasy/sci-fi/historical fiction), so I assume it's equally un-helpful for others.... which obviously isn't true, or else people wouldn't use it.
Okay, one more question.... I have a condition about books that are currently in a smoking home or smell like smoke (I've been having asthma problems recently). There are a few books that I want where there is one copy of the book in the system, but it's a copy that doesn't meet my conditions... so the book is put on my Reminder List. Looking at it, if the number changes to 0, I can convert it to my wish list. If the number changes to 2, I can request the new copy... but if the number stays 1, how do I know that it's still the same copy, or if (say I'm away from my computer for a week) someone posted a new copy and someone else (without my condition) requested the first (smoky) copy. Or, say someone else also wants the book and ALSO has a smoke condition. So if a new book gets posted, the person who gets it will just be the person who pressed the button first, not the person who wanted it first? Is there any way to "get in line" for the next copy of this book? Does my question make sense? Thanks! Denise |

I don't think there is any way to know for sure except to try the request again. This is kind of a hole in the system. |

If you read the boards for the genre you like some people might have deals posted in their signature. And someone might see those books offered in yours if you're making posts. Also most of the people posting on those subject boards will have those kinds of books in their bookshelf. If you see a couple you're interested in you can always pm the person and ask if they'll do a 2 for 1 or something. |

Denise, If you're wanting a particular book and looking for it in the Bazaar, you can use the forums search to try to find it. That doesn't help with general "Check out my shelf for 2-for-1 deal!" type of post, but it helps with looking for particular books. So go ahead and post them to the bazaar. If someone is looking for them, they might be found that way! Last Edited on: 9/7/07 12:22 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Why not put in some kind of express lane for us non-smokers? Like if every member was designated as smoking or non-smoking, non-smoking requests/posts would get top priority? :P I know that's not entirely fair though, I'm just being silly. :P |
