I received a message about the  possibility of me setting up a reading challenge for 2015 as it had helped them when they had participated in the past.  Here is what I have come up with.  Some topics are from previous challenges and a few I found on a Goodreads Christian group that seemed like they would be fun.

This thread is for the 2015 Christian Reading Challenge beginning January 1, 2015

Anyone can join in at any time (after Jan 1 of course)

You are welcome to add your own categories to your list or if you would like you can send me a PM and I will see about adding them to the main list.

All of the categories pertain to Christian books only, whether they are fiction or non-fiction.

1.    Read More Books in 2015 that 2014

2.    NICE TA MEETCHA!   Read a CF book that is written by an author you've never read before

3.    AH, THAT NEW-BOOK SMELL    Read a new release for 2015

4.    Compass Settings:  Read a book set in (1) North  (2)  South  (3)  East  (4)  West

5.    Ho, Ho, Ho!!!  Read a book that centers around a holiday or celebration

13.  A book with a "Girl's name" in the title- e.g.- The Legend of Sheba:Rise of a Queen

14.   A book with a "Flower" in the title- e.g. -Roses Have Thorns

15.   A book with a 'month" in the title e.g.- Lost December

16.   A book with a 1 word title- e.g.- Outlaw

17.   A book with a "color" in the title-e.g.- The Scarlet Letter

Bonus Categories:

This is an opportunity for you to finish all of those series that have been sitting on your book shelf looking at you. I don't know about you but I have quite a few. With this challenge you count series completed, not books read. It doesn't matter how many books are in the series or if you've read most of them and only have one or two left to read. The object of this challenge is to finish the series.
Levels:
• Curious – Finish 2 series
• Fascinated – Finish 3 series
• Addicted – Finish 5 series
• Obsessed – Finish 10 series

Name Challenge:

It's very easy, take your name and match the title of the books you read to correspond with each letter in your name. And so there will be 3 levels.
Level 1- On a first name basis- (First name only)
Level 2- What your mom yells when you are in trouble (First and middle name(s)
Level 3- The whole enchilada- First, middle and last name.

For example-
C-"Courting Morrow Little"
H-"The Headmistress of Rosemarie"
E-"Edenbrooke"
R-"Round Robin"
Y-"You don't know me"
L-"Lost December"

I split my meager TBR into two shelves of a bookcase:  one for christian reading; the other my cozy mysteries.....with one leftover contemporary fiction book.......I'm ready for two reading challenges....

If we read a series (trilogy) that is actually included in one book; do we list that as one book or three books?

Can we count the book that includes three books as a series for the series bonus category?

Can we use the series for different categories and also for the series bonus category?

If it is a trilogy of the same series, I would count each of the books separately.  It could count in the bonus series categoy too.

I also don't see any reason why you couldn't count it under other categories either.

Finishing up a series of three cozies in one book that I was happily surprised to find they aren't just cozy mysteries but Christian fiction cozies!  You don't find many cozies that are Christian fiction.......A book that's been sitting around and I'm finally tackling it.  and find it fits both reading challenges I'm in!!

Alibis in Arkansas: Death on a Deadline/Death of a Diva/Death at a Diner by Christine Lynxwiler and others

I'm finishing up another 3 in 1 book; Yukon Quest by Tracie Peterson that includes the books Treasures from the North, Ashes and Ice, and Rivers of Gold.   It's a hardback, minus the bookjacket........it's posted to my bookshelf if anyone would like to read it.

Bummer.  I will become an a la carte member on 2/15 and won't be able to post my updates and depending on what they do with this particular forum, I'll still read and participate if I can.  (I'm still a little fuzzy on what's happening to the forums in regards to readability for a la carte members.

Anyone else?

I'm reading an older book of Tracie Peterson's   Tidings of Peace.   I love World War II romance novels and this one fits the bill!  It's four stories of love and romance and Christian faith during World War II.  The stories include accounts of what the guys went through while overseas.

To finish spelling my name for the challenge: I need Christian titles beginning with the following letters  R (2), N (2), Y, and E

If you happen to have any you're posting, please let me know......or if you have any suggestions, so I can add them to my wishlist....

Thank you!

Okay, I've found some through amazon with free ebooks, put a couple on my wishlist, and ordered one.........I think I have them covered but if you know of one that's a really good read with those letters, please let me know.

I've completed the challenge except for 2 categories: audio book and award winning book..........it was fun.  I read more CF books this year even though my reading has slowed way down.
