Happy May 1st! Hope this month will be a good one for us all.

I got the new scale yesterday and my initial weigh in yesterday was upsetting (250.6), but this morning I weighed in normally, just in underclothes and I'm starting out the month at 246.5. (Yesterday I weighed in fully dressed plus I had already eaten lunch.). So I'm up about 3 lbs. from my last weigh in, in April, just before getting rid of other scale, but up 8 lbs. from my March 1st weigh in, on new scale. So to feel I'm really making any true progress I need to get below my March 1st weigh in, which was 238.6. So that will be my short term goal. To get down to 238lbs. My long term goal is 185 lbs. Once I finally see that number, then I'll decide if I want to push to go lower. In my head I want to get back down to around 165lbs., but I just don't know if that's doable. But for now I'm only going to worry about getting back down to 238 lbs.

For now I can't change what foods in the apt. although I did trash a few things. But I can't really buy anything else for the next 2 weeks and I want to start with an empty fridge and cabinets before I really go food shopping. So it may be a little longer than the 2 weeks before I go to the store. Right now I have enough groceries to last for 40 meals, or 20 days. So it may be closer to 3 weeks before I go food shopping.

My knee/calf seems to be back to normal once more. It stopped hurting as suddenly as the pain started. Still waiting to hear back on x-rays. But I'm going to start trying to walk a little more each day, being sure to have my cane with me, just in case. And I'm going to do some chair exercises each day since getting down on the floor is out of the question. But I really want to see what I can manage to do in May.

What goals have ya'll set for May? Short term and long term?

Vicki, sounds like adding the scale back in will be helpful in monitoring where your weight is whether you weigh in daily or weekly.

I went to town to get a haircut then stopped to get asparagus, my favorite vegetable to have in place of carbs.

I'm hoping so Teri. Time will tell.

Is your hair short now?

My hair is usually short but it gets shaggy and I start trimming over my ears and my bangs until I finally cave and go to a salon for damage control, LOL! But I've got a "summer" cut now!

Bet it's cute. My hair is short and very, very thin.

I try not to complain about how hot and heavy my hair is when its 90 degrees and 90% humidity! In the summer, I think thin hair would be more comfortable!

I guess it is cooler but my hair is so thin in places, I wear a ballcap when I go outside for any reason.

Got on the scale this morning and I'm 243.7, so it's coming back down. Just got to keep it going in the right direction now.

Anyone have any special plans for the weekend? Nothing special here. It's supposed to be a fairly wet one, which I won't complain about since rain is badly needed.

Its going to rain for several days here. Today the local fire Department is having a chicken BBQ so I'll run into town today to pick up some.

Little by little the weight is coming back down. On April 30th I was 250.6. Today I'm 242. Been trying really hard to cut back on the high sodium foods and it's working.

I knew you could do it. Evil sodium! I'm down a pound or so to 205. Maybe its all the lettuce I'm eating with meals instead of other side dishes.

Thanks Teri. When I buy groceries again I want to get dark green leafy foods like mustard and turnip greens.

Woke up this morning to pain again in my left calf. I think I may have messed up yesterday. I hadn't been having any pain for over a week so yesterday I didn't bother wearing the brace. And now it's bothering me again. Not as badly but it's there. So the brace is on. Hopefully that'll ease it back down.

I don't find turnip greens or mustard greens in stores around here but there's always  spinach, which I like, or kale, which I don't. I always buy broccoli and green beans. Both Meggie and I like those.

I buy them frozen or canned. So they don't go bad on me.

I'm back down to 239.7 this morning. WHOO-HOO!! Only 3 more pounds and I'll have relosed all the excess weight I gained in April and will be back completely on track.

Ok, down a little more this morning. I'm 238.6 today. I'm getting about 1000 calories a day right now. Not really feeling hungry with so so few calories so won't push to eat more. But I'm down exactly 12 lbs. since last Wednesday. I know 99% is probably water weight, but it's water weight I'm no longer carrying so that makes me happy.

Thanks Teri and Heather. I'm sure it's mostly water weight, but it makes me feel a lot better to be back under 240.
