At 205 today. I will be more active today. The yard needs mowing. Yes, Its a rider but it takes a lot of muscle sometimes to maneuver. Plus I'll need to run the push mower some. I'm going shopping tomorrow. I think I'll consider "the lesser of 2 evils" as I shop. I have a sweet tooth. I dislike sugar-free anything. So...a bowl of Jell-o at 100 calories, zero fat or salt, is a better choice to satisfy a sweet tooth than ice cream, or cookies or cake. Another option: toasting marshmallows. 4 marshmallows is 90 calories but so tasty! Dark chocolate candy kisses are 20 calories each so I could have a nice dessert of 2 marshmallows, toasted, with 2 kisses, for a total of 90 calories. How decadent! Worth waiting for, no graham crackers needed. Last Edited on: 5/28/25 9:41 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Sounds good to me Teri. My weight is up this morning at 243.8. Had meatball subs for supper last night so figure it had too much sodium. But it is what it is. Just have to keep working at it. |

I bet nobody had the kind of day I had yesterday. I went to the grocery store and stocked up. I got home, broke the house key in the lock. I got both pieces out but I was still in a tough spot because I'd forgotten to put the spare key back outside in the hiding spot. And both people who keep a spare key to my house are out of state. What are the odds??!! The only remaining question was which window do I break? I decided to destroy one of the basement windows. They are old, rusted. Next I had to remember how much crap and tools were lying beneath which window. I picked a window, kicked it in, picked up glass. There was just enough light for me to see that I'd have a somewhat soft landing on boxes and Styrofoam BUT I had to be very careful not to hit the septic pipe on the way down. Soon as I got inside I washed up and changed clothes because of all the mouse sign. I've got some boards propped up in front of the broken window. I have put in a call to my regular handyman to at least board up the window, maybe put in a new window. He's a busy guy but his wife is a good friend. ETA: I put plastic over the broken window. My handyman and wife are going away for 2 days but he'll come Sunday and board it up. I had a piece of pie and feel comforted! Friday: I'm going to the hardware this morning to get a couple new keys made and put one in a hiding spot outside the house and another one in the van. Teri, You had an adventure. An expensive one considering the cost of new keys and new window glass, but an adventure just the same. My friend Phyllis has a spare key to my apt. so they can check up on me if something were to happen, since I live alone. I do have a spare apt. key but it's in my fannybag, so if I got locked out of the apt., unless I had the fannybag on, it wouldn't do me much good. Maybe I'll think about putting it in the car somewhere. One thing about living in the apt. complex; if I do get locked out, I could call my apt. manager and she'd have maintanance come open the door for me. I don't leave the apt. without slipping my keys in my pocket, even just to go to the trash dumpster, but having my spare apt. key where I could get to it should the door somehow lock and I lost or broke my other key, makes sense. I have an extra car key for the actual lock too since a battery for the remote key isn't cheap. Shoot, the reg. key for the car was $27.00. That's as much as the battery for the remote key, but I didn't know it was going to cost that much until I'd already had the guy make it. So of course I had to pay for it. But I treat that key like it's gold. LOL! That one stays in my fannybag as well. I don't trust those key magnets to hold under the wheel well. Anytime I'm going out to the car I'm wearing my fannybag ( I don't use a regular purse, have used fannybags for years) anyway, so have key on hand. The remote key as well as apt. key and mailbox key are on a keychain that hooks to the outside of my fannybag for easy access. The spares are inside in the zippered compartment. And the fannybag only comes off once I'm back home and in the apt. I feel a fannybag is safer than a purse and leaves my hands free or keeps pressure off of my shoulder with a shoulder strap. When I had to go places with Bob, it was just easier to use the fannybag since I was having to help him so much to get around. Then when I started driving for Uber, having the fannybag was safer than a purse sitting in the floorboard of the car or in the passenger seat. Now I just prefer them to a reg. bag. I can't carry a lot in them but it holds my wallet, cellphone, and nail clippers, plus spare keys, and a small bottle of aspirin and sinus meds. Keeps it simple. Weight wise, I'm back up to 245.8 this morning. Had too much sodium late yesterday evening so it's showing on the scale. Actually this month my weight hasn't stayed the same 2 days in a row. It's yo-yo-d every single day this month. I'm still down 5 lbs. from April 30th but sure hoping I can do better in June. |

I went to the hardware early today and had 3 copies made. They were only $2.75 each! I hid one key in the van, hid one out on the deck somewhere and I'm going to hide one in the basement. The reason I'm putting one in the basement is because I now have the cellar way door blocked so I won't be able to go upstairs if I need to break in to the basement again. I think if I put this device on the cellar door at night I'll feel more secure. The basement exterior doors are not that secure. The van key is another matter! When I first bought it in 2014, the dealer didn't have 2 keys and he had to order one. It cost him $300 in 2014, so I wonder what a replacement van key would cost now! I got up early (for me) after staying up too late reading. I showered and then went to Mom's for breakfast with my daughter and with my aunt and uncle who are visiting Mom. Then I took my kid to the county admin building and she ran in to renew her plates and then we went a block away to a great park with walking paths along the river. Then I dropped her at a bus stop and went on to work. Ate fast food on the way for lunch... I must get better plans in place to bring healthy food! |

I have an idea that just counting calories isn't enough. I have to consider the food item itself. For example, I greatly enjoyed hot dogs in buns yesterday. The calorie count fit inside daily limits BUT hot dogs in buns are foods that don't have a good impact on the body systems. So I'm up 2 pounds thanks to that and other bad choices, like pie. (Bad choices coincide with grocery shopping days. Temptation and desire win out in the grocery store. Its all a big plot!) I lost 50 pounds in the past by eliminating desserts over mindful food choices. This morning I tossed the rest of the hot dog buns and half a raspberry pie. I'm going to concentrate on low carbs although I will nibble on the fruit I bought. I hate wasting fruit. I've got chicken in broth simmering in the slow cooker. I know I will enjoy this no carb food, with some veggies. Not a soup, per se. I tend to waste less when its just meat in broth. I didn't put added salt in just in case I want to share some of this deliciousness with Meggie. When I watch TV and see the starvation happening around the word I think how irresponsible, maybe arrogant, of me to actually complain about eating too much! Well done Margaret. It's pouring rain here this morning so I won't be going anywhere. I don't drive in the rain unless it's an emergency and I won't walk in the rain carrying an umbrella due to lightning. I had an umbrella get struck by lightning once years ago and it's something I never want to happen again. Teri, I can't imagine having to pay for a full car key fob or van key fob. That is awfully pricy. I got 2 when I got my car but wanted the extra just key to manually open the door and drive with if need be. I've thrown away so much food over the last few years, it makes me ashamed to admit. I have taken bags of food to food pantry in town as well. So at least that didn't get wasted. But so many times I've bought multiple items like buy 1 get 1 free deals and I'll eat my fill and then don't want anymore in the apt. Or I'll see how it's effecting my weight loss and I'll feel guilty for having it around and get rid of it. I simply can't keep doing that. I mentioned all the yo-yo-ing this month. Yesterday I was 245.8. This morning I'm ending out the month at 238.8, so down 7 lbs over night, and and 12 lbs. since April 30th. I changed the batteries in the scale so that might have helped too. But at least I'm back in the 230's to start the new month. |
