Born Free by Joy Adamson, 2 cassettes (Nice photo on front of  movie star who played the part of Joy  with the Lion) Read by Virginia McKenna who played Joy in the movie. Born Free is the enchanting and true story of the lioness Elsa, a lion of two worlds. Joy Adamson and her husband George, who was Senior Game Warden in the Northern Province of Kenya raised the orphaned cub Elsa. But unlike other animal stories, Elsa's is unique in that Joy an George were able to teach her the ways of a wild lion and coax her to return to the wild, thereby ensuring her freedom from dependence on them or any other human beings. The very special relationship between Elsa the lioness and Joy and George, which continued even after Elsa was grown and had returned to the wild is moving, often humorous and always revealing.  2 Hours

Old Friends, By Tracy Kidder,  (Read by the Author) Story- Joe Torchio and Lou Freed are two old men in a little room. Together they represent some 160 years of memory, hope, achievement, sorrow--- of life. They are residents of Linda Manor, a nursing home. Tracy Kidder , the author and narrator spent a year inside Linda Manor, and he opens up this world as it it were a wonderous, unexplored new country. As we meet and get to know Joe and Lou-- and also Eleanor the actress, Winifred the activist, Art the bon vivant, and many others-- we see beyond the institutional routine to the rich human sympathies, gentle wit, comedy, survival and everyday courage of men and women struggling to preserve their dignity. A close-up view of what it is truly like to grow old in this country. Old Friends is Kidder's most affecting and important work to date.  ( $16.00 List Price )
