I couldn't get on no matter which way I tried. any time of the day, didn't matter either. Finally this afternoon I got on after 3 days off~~ withdrawals big time! 

I hope it's not just compalints on this thread, I hope members are contacting TPTB and asking ofr better serivce.

An artificial intelligence company has decided that PaperbackSwap is a great place to educate its AI algorithm on the publicly available information here, and is sending so many bots onto the site that regular users like us are having a hard time using the site. The Gateway errors are happening when the AI Bots are sucking up so much bandwidth (as they train their AI on the book info available on our site) that our browsing is not only slowed down, but the attempt to load the page actually times out, thus the gateway error. The PBS tech guys are working really hard at putting into place something to thwart the bots. Hopefully that will happen soon. It's driving us all crazy, and I know the Admin Team is pulling its hair out, too.

FYI, if you go to isitdownrightnow.com and enter paperbackswap.com, they will tell you if the site is down for everyone or just your computer.  If it is down, I just wait a few hours and try again.

I wonder if another problem is related to this?  The last few days I've noticed when you go to a post or view your Daily Digest, the top lines between the header and the post or listing of books is gone. You have to scroll up to see them. I looked at other Websites and don't see this. Does anyone else see this? I use the Firefox browser, but it hasn't been updated recently.

I had a Gateway 504 happen yesterday whilst I was checking an author's booklist. Odd because it wasn't an enormously long booklist when I got it up later.
