"Actress and the Marquis" reminds me of a 1930s romantic comedy--everyone's constantly going in opposite directions without realizing, everyone has a conflicting agenda and if a conversation can be plausibly misinterpreted, it will be. The comic timing is great, and it's always nice to see a heroine who has some focus for her life other than whether or not she marries the hero. This is Holbrook's best book, a charming romantic romp.
