It was a shock to see Sherry's replies.

She will always be with us - such a great help she was to us all.

I learned, via an image approver, early on that if you make the image too small it will show up on list pages, but not on the book's page which requires a larger image. I typically use 600 pixels for the width of the book and then save it to Web-optimized in Photoshop after using my scanner to make an image. There are times I've forgotten to optimize and uploaded a very large file which does not get approved.

I've noticed that some images are approved the same day, others a day or so later. Some not. I just figured that the people who approved them might be working in different genres. (?) I've had to reload three or four books, which then make it. I usually just add images for books on my Bookshelf, although I have done a few that aren't but are books I really liked. As also suggested by others here, I've copied some images from half.com and amazon.

The word I wanted specification on was "about".  Nowhere did it say it needs to be exact but I got a reply stating there was an issue with my submission.  I assumed it need to be exactly a size and thus the white bars were shown.  That was not the issue at all, I simply didn't look at the image I uploaded that contained the bars.

I still stand by my original request.  I read the thread and it didn't answer my specific question.  Hopefully if someone else comes across the white bars issue, they will be prompted to look at their own image that they uploaded so that they don't make the same mistake I made.
