I have a few printed stamps from the APC for $2.13 because I tend to buy a couple of extra when I go into the post office so I can just drop the books in the blue box the next time. So, I just said I could mail a couple of books in 2 days because I thought they would be under a pound, but they aren't - PBS says $3.15 and $2.47 each. So, if I just add extra stamps to make it that amount, can I still drop it in the blue box since I also have the APC on there or is that not OK? I don't have the time to go to the post office in the next two days since I went in *yesterday* to mail 2 other books... If not, is it possible to change it to "can mail later" at this point? |

Yes, you should be able to just add the extra postage using stamps. The APC portion of the postage satisfies the trackability requirement. |

I would weigh the books if you can though, before adding the extra postage. Sometimes PBS calculations are not accurate. Cheryl |

If you add stamps to them, you may not be able to drop them in a blue box if they're over 13 ounces. I don't know if the "original" one counts as not being stamped to get around that rule, but I wouldn't chance it - I'd take them to the PO.

The rules is that packages with ONLY stamps have to meet the 13-oz rule. If there is an APC sticker, it is traceable to you, and is ok to put in the box. So it is fine to add stamps. I've done it several times. |
