Thought to ask cause I saw the 'real life' Jack Mac yesterday at a funeral! My niece who loves the books, was in total awe that she got to meet him! It is amazing when you read her stories and KNOW the people that these people are based on!

Well, come see me, ya'll, and I'll show ya the sites of Big Stone Gap! I lived there for 4 years and knew Adriana's family, although she had already left for college by then (the early 80s)!

Christi - you said it exactly right!! She is a storyteller.  Reading her books reminds me of listening to my mom or one of my aunts telling stories about their lives.

I loved Big Stone Gap....the rest of the trilogy didn't hold up to the first one, though.

I enjoyed her more recent stuff too...in fact, I just bought "Queen of the Big Time" for a second time (realizing it AFTER I started reading the first chapter and said, I remember this one...duh!).

I'm a huge fan of Adrianna too.  Are there other authors you would recommend? Maybe that will help me find someone new to me!

Just making sure you Adriana fans know there's a new Big Stone Gap book out.  "Home to Big Stone Gap".  I just finished it and I think it's the best one so far, I loved it!!  I laughed out loud and actually wept in a couple of places.  The characters are just great.  Has anyone else read it yet?

To: Lynn D. (bears1):   No, I didn't post it.  I actually got it from the library.  I'm new to PBS--are libraries taboo??

Yes, I liked "Home to Big Stone Gap" also. Of course, I never miss 1 of her books and I have read them all.  She is 1 of those must read authors for me.

Stephanie, libraries are a wonderful thing.  It's just that they have that darn return policy!  LOL
