So I ordered two books in the same series at the same time.  The covers and the titles are very similar, so when the first one arrived I marked the wrong one received.  Argh!

I PM'd the sender of the book I had not received, and said I'd made a mistake and the book has NOT shown up.  I'll PM when the book shows up.  I didn't think there'd be a problem, since all of my books have shown up in a timely fashion so far.  Except this one hasn't shown up yet.

The book was marked 'sent' on 9/3, so if it still hasn't shown up by 10/3 it would have been marked 'lost', right? (if I hadn't been a doofus).

Should I do anything, or just chalk it up to a newcomer's mistake?

Or maybe since I'm asking the question, the book will show up in the mail tomorrow.....

Thanks!

Denise

The Help Center recommends that you wait for your book (under "I accidentally marked a book received!"). I'd wait to do anything for now. If it gets past the "lost" date, I'd PM the sender and ask for my credit back, saying you'll buddy it back when the book arrives. If the sender doesn't respond to your PM, then contact R&R after about a week, so that the sender has an ample time to log in and respond.

Hi Denise, I'm afraid there's nothing for you to do.  The Help Center has a bit of info about this:

I accidentally marked a book received!

Once you mark a book as received there is no way to undo this action.  The software simply doesn't "go backward" in that way.

  • When you did this, the sender got credit for sending the book.
  • You can contact the sender to discuss this if you want.  To do this:
    • Go to your Transaction Archive page under My Account in the toolbar at the top of the site
    • Scroll down to see the completed transaction for this book on the Transaction Archive page
    • Click to send a message to this sender

If you marked a book received accidentally from the En Route to Me tab in My Account:

  • This book was marked mailed; chances are that it will arrive.
  • Please wait for your book; most likely it will arrive and you will have already marked it as received, and won't have to do anything further.
  • Please try to be very careful about which books you mark received.

I like your sense of humor about it...and hope it does, indeed, show up tomorrow! ;-)

I did that when I was new here.  I didn't pm the person,  just waited till they really did come.  when I did get them  they were really bad/unpostable books and I was very dissappointed.  I didn't pm the person to let them know ,  I just let it go and chalked it up to a learning lesson.  I def would pm the person if it happened now that I am not so new a this.
