This book as well as anything I have read by Bainton are exceptionally well researched and written. I am fascinated by that age and its impact on Western Civilization. And I truly regret that this time in our history does not receive attention in the schools and universities. The Reformation had profound impacts on every aspect of our development--intellectually, culturally, and economically. Bainton is one of my favorite authors on this period.
