Alexandra Katehakis MFT, CSAT, CST is the Clinical Director of the , and the author of "Erotic Intelligence: Igniting Hot, Healthy Sex While in Recovery from Sex Addiction."

Kathehakis is a licensed psychotherapist , and graduated from Antioch University in 1997. Katehakis holds licensure and certification with several different mental health organizations:Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) with the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP); Certified Sex Therapist (CST) with the American Association of Sex Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT);Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (MFT) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).

In her practice, Kathehakis focuses on sexual dysfunction and sexual addiction in individuals and couples.

The American Psychiatric Association does not include the diagnosis of "sexual addiction" in its most recent edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, (DSM-IV) published in 1994. But the diagnosis of "hypersexual disorder" has been proposed for inclusion in the , which is scheduled to be published in 2013.

In her practice. Katehakis uses Eye-Movement-Desensitization-and-Reprocessing therapy. EMDR attempts to activate the brain’s opposing hemispheres in order to release “trapped” emotional experiences.

In 2009, Katehakis’s article, was published in Sexual Addiction & Compulsivity. The article focused on the neuropsychobiological impact of early childhood trauma on the affective, cognitive, and behavioral development of sexual addicts.
