With motive, access, and opportunity, Nikki was their number-one suspect. The jury thought so, too.
Eight years later and out on parole, Niki Fife hires Kinsey Millhone to find out who really killed her late husband. A trail that is eight years cold. A trail that reaches out to enfold a bitter, wealthy, and foul-mouthed old woman and a young boy, born deaf, whose memory cannot be trusted. A trail that leads to a lawyer defensively loyal to a dead partner and disarmingly attractive to Millhone; to an ex-wife, brave, lucid, lovely and still angry over Fife's betrayal of her; to a not-so-young secretary with too high a salary for too few skills and too many debts left owing: The trail twists to include them all, with Millhone following every turn until it finally twists back on itself and she finds herself face-to-face with a killer cunning enough to get away with murder.« less
What can I say about a Sue Grafton novel. I just love the Kinsey Malone character. I haven't read her in awhile ....sorry if I spelled it wrong. Kinsey is someone I would like to know. She is smart, and funny. Sue's books are exciting.
Really great read. Very consistently paced, a solid whodunit. Kinsey Millhone is an old-fashioned, dyed-in-the-wool private eye. She's one tough cookie, every bit the equal of Parker's Spenser. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of Grafton's alphabet series.
This book is a nice, simple read. Perfect for a day at the beach. I loved the charcters and did not figure out who had done it till the very end. I will probally read more by Sue Grafton in the future.
I'm loving this series! Sue Grafton is one of the few authors that always seems to make me laugh out loud. I'm half-way through "F" for Fugitive and I still love them. Private Investigator, Kinsey Milhone is tough, sassy, and hilarious! Definitely worth reading all they way through the alphabet!
This is the beginning of the books that have been the rave of the ssupense novel's. A private investigator has killed someone and it weights heavily on his mind. You must read the book to find out how it goes...
