Autumn of 1755 bestowed to the Lenininger's world, not only its rich beauties, but also a rewarding harvest. On this particular day the whole valley seemed to rejoice in the fruitfulness of the season-but suddenly suddenly Barbara and Regina's peaceful frontier is changed forever. General Braddock and his army had been defeated and soon the Pennsylvania settlers woulf suffer the bloody effects of the French and Indian War. On October 16, 1755, and band of Indians, led by Allegheny warriors, stormed through Buffalo Valley, burned the Leningers' log cabin, and captured the sisters.
I have read many stories of captives, the Leningers', Mary Jemison, and others and have found them interesting. This is another that i have enjoyed and recommend. Regina never gave up hope that God would one day have the sisters meet again, this is their story. It was to be made into a movie and an issue arose and did not make it to theaters as originally planned. It will now be in theaters nationwide Feb. 21, 2014.
