A harsh and savage land. Amanda White's gentle upbringing in the civilized East had left her totally unprepared for the hardships that awaited her as a teacher of Indian children in Wyoming Territory. Calling upon reserves of strength she had not known she possessed, she began a bitter struggle for survival in the harsh new land.
