I really wanted to get into The Amish WifeâGregg Olsen knows how to write a hook, and there were moments where I thought, Okay, here we go! This is picking up! But sadly, those sparks never turned into a fire.

I kept putting it down, then picking it back up, hoping it would click... but after months of this back-and-forth, I realized I was forcing myself to keep going. The pacing felt uneven, and just when things would get interesting, the story would drift off again. I found it hard to stay engaged, and life is too short for books that feel like homework.

Maybe it picks up later, but at this point, I'm tapping out. This one just wasn't for me.
