Surprisingly, this is not so much a war story, but a present-day story of love and redemption. Ben learns to appreciate his father's service in WWII and especially his heroic feats in Bastogne. Ben also learns to love his heavenly father and finds a life partner to share his new faith. This is pretty much a woman's book. It is more of an inspirational romance than anything, although it helps to have some interest in WWII and of the Battle of Bastogne. I liked it very much.
