I think I would like Angela Thirkell but see that she has written so many books--does anyone know her writing and have any advice on where to start?

I am a big Angela Thirkell fan and the Barsetshire series is her most popular, and for my money, her best writing. "High Rising" is the first book in the Barsetshire series, and for a complete list go to: www.angelathirkell.org/atbooks.htm.

While you can read her books out of order and enjoy them, they do have a cast of characters that appear/reappear throughout her books so it makes sense to start at the beginning and read right through.

All of her books were re-released just a few years ago, so they are all still readily-available, but I have not seen that many show up on PBS (not that I look for her very often, since I have all her books) or else they are wishlisted so the moment they are listed they are gone.

I do encourage you to read her books. They are tales of manners in a far more gentle time (1930s & 1940s). Think Jane Austen for the early 20th Century. Discover Angela Thirkell and Enjoy!
