THE dreadful ravages which the difeafe generally known by the name of the Yellow Fever, has of late years made in the Weft India Iflands-and America, has very much, and very defervedly", attracted the attention of the medical world. Many authors have attempted to account for the great mortality occafioned by it; and many have recommended, commended, in the ftrongeft manner, modes of treatment, which they confider as peculiarly fuccefsful. But notwithftanding thefe publications, the mortality of the difeafe does not feem to be diminifhing ; and a fuccefsful mode of cure ftill remains to be difco- vered. The ingenious and intelligent author of the work now before us, after many years' refi- dence in the Weft Indies, during which time he had many opportunities of feeing the difeafe in all its forms, and of trying different modes of cure which had been recommended, briefly ftates the obfervations which he had himfelf made on this difeafe, and the practice which he has found moft fuccefsful.
