The idea seems pretty cool, and i really wanna try, but none of the grocery stores near me have dumpsters without locks or anything :( im thinking of  maybe asking the local stores about what they do with old food, but even if they wanted to give it away i think they can't legally give it to ppl ( if it make sthem sick they can sue or sumthing) but i was just wondering if anybody out there has tried it, or has any ideas about it :)

Grocery stores, restaurants, etc cannot give away food due to the fact that if someone gets sick they can be sued...it's sad that doing a good thing could get them in trouble.  Have you tried freecycle?  It's a group where you get and give things for free.  You could ask for leftovers that would otherwise go in the trash...on that site you also have to give though.
