There was a YA book that I read in the 90s that I can't remember what its called or who wrote it, but I would love to read it again, so I thought somebody else might know what I'm talking about.

In the story there is a man that is from the past that guards this amulet and somehow he ends up in the present day ( I don't remember if he fell asleep for a few hundred years or if he time traveled) and there is a girl that now has the amulet. He gets a job at a Renaissance Fair, meanwhile there is another guy from the same time period who is stalking the girl because he wants to use the amulet's power for himself, but the other guy helps to keep her and the amulet safe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you remember any of the characters' names?

so... is the word "amulet" actually used? or is that just what you are calling the item?

I have no idea what book it is, but it sounded good so I am trying to find it. So far all I have come up with is more recent: The Amulet of Samarkand and From the Ashes by Meghan Brunner

I looked at the two books that you mentioned, but it wasn't either of those. I appreciate the help, though.

And to answer your question, I'm pretty sure they call it an amulet in the book, but I don't think that's part of the title.

There was a book very like this that was not a YA. It was called Breath of Magic by TERESA MEDEIROS. It that it? Again, an adult paranormal romance, not YA.

Caroline, have you tried checking out Booksleuth at www.abebooks.com?    They have found so many books where people don't have a lot of info.  Check them out, and they may be able to help :)
