I enjoy this series but every now and then the time periods don't mach up. Grimes refers to Richard's memories of the bombings during WWII. How old is Jury supposed to be? He seems to be pretty spry for a guy old enough to have memories of the Blitz. How old is this sexy Scotland Yard heartthrob supposed to be? |

Keep in mind that this series was begun back 1980. I think he was in his forties when the series started--so that would be about right for being a child during WWII. He really hasn't aged normally though--certainly not at the rate of getting a year older in each book! I've got about four or five of the series books left til the end. Cheryl |

Good point, Cheryl! I hadn't even thought about the fact that the series started back in the 80s. She needs to stop with the WWII and other period references, they make my brain hurt, LOL. A sultry, somwhat glamorous character in the book I'm reading now mentioned dining at a table adjacent to one shared by Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald as a child. IIRC, Fitzgerald's been gone since 1940. |
