By RP do you mean Role Play? Ive never understood larps and RPGs but to each their own. I suppose that writing withing the paramiters set up by someone else could be fun and a nice excersise.

HEAVILY.

LOL  I play on Roswell Heaven for Roswell games, plus crossover games as well for various shows.  Buffy, The Tribe as well, plus a myspace based game for the Dark-Hunter book series.

yes role play, free form text role plays are not as strict as things like LARP and  D&D and such. Usually you can just use a character and what has been set for them..and write your own. "episodes" or the like. Its alot of fun :)

I love rp.  Once some girls and I got until this rp involving unicorns and wolves that turned into something much than itself.  Not that was fun.  I haven't done it too recently but I would love to get into it again.  It's fun and gets the creative juices flowing when your stuck on your own writing porjects.

Those sound cool- I love history.  I would love to do an rp based on some of the books I've read recently- Underland Chronicles, Benjamin Bartholomew Piff, Robin Jarvis.  I've been throwing around these ideas about city cats at war and pirates who travel through time- nothing I would really write about but interesting enough.

Text-based RP seems like a "game" in the very loosest of senses, it's more like free-form collaborative writing.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you...  I've tried my hand at it a couple times, but as a long-time D&D player (23 years and still going) I prefer the more traditional format of referee (DM/GM) + players.  Play-by-email (PBEM) games are a nice text-based alternative which still retain some of the rules structure and player divisions of pnp games and eliminates some of the more heinous Mary-Sue-ism I've encountered in more free-form stuff.  Whatever though, YMMV.

Somehow, I didn't really expect to meet anyone else who RPs here. Why? Not quite sure. Anyway, I love to role play, and recently, I've been told that I hava a natural inclination towards historical role plays. I hadn't thought about it, but it's true - Rome, mythology, 18th century Britain . . . Also anything based on some of my favorite books and shows. Interested, anyone?

Yup I role play and its how I found out I could write! I mainly do white wolf Vampire the Masquerade but have tried Harry potter, discworld and a few others.

So a few links to an RP site would be nice, I am willing to try just about anything fantasy.

I have been a storyteller ( gamer leader/dungeon master etc) before and have been able to get people having fun BUT I would rather just play. I am willing to help if need be.

If you're willing, I'm up for a mideval fantasy role play. It can be over PM, IM, email, whatever (though I'd prefer not to use IM for anything except logistics).

I have tried this before on a site called www.RPoL.net (Role-Play Online.) The site is set up for each player to have their own character, and Online play is easy, I've seen several that have taken the storyline and let the players run with it, forming a story instead of a more common DM/player relationship.

Whatever you decide to do sounds interesting. I'll keep an eye one this thread.

Thanks, I've been having some difficulty finding a good site for role playing, and I'm not that into the D&D style of rolling dice or having only one main "master".
