Can't believe that I can start this thread. Wow! Am beginning Dear Abigail: The Intimate Lives and Revolutionary Ideas of Abigail Adams and Her Two Remarkable Sisters by Diane Jacobs. This book is classified as a biography but I think it might of interest to HF fans. Also reading The Tudor Vendetta (Spymaster Chronicles, Bk 3) by C. W. Gortner. Going well. So far so good. Hello, R E K, and all! Still listening to St. Peter's Fair by Ellis Peters - although I haven't actually listened to it for about a week. I am really enjoying it, though. LOVE Brother Cadfael! Event hough I haven't finished, I know I will definitely be reading more in this series! Started The Butterfly Cabinet by Bernie McGill, which is a little dark and creepy, and I am really enjoying. Stumbled upon this one while perusing Kindle books. I will be using it for the historical mystery challenge - even though it's not a traditional mystery like a classic Who Dun It? It's more of a secret of the past being revealed. Anyway, hope all is well with everyone! It's been quiet around here! |

Finished Dear Abigail: The Intimate Lives and Revolutionary Ideas of Abigail Adams and Her Two Remarkable Sisters by Diane Jacobs. Wonderful, wonderful book. I rate it five stars from start to finish. The author spent ten years on ithis one. I have long been a fan of this marvelous woman and her husband, John. The author paints Abigail as a real person with fears, anger, compassion and enduring love for her husband. She was an intelligent and remarkable individual who maintained that women should be treated intellectually like men but could not convince John even though he adored her and depended on her to help him politically. The Tudor Vendetta (Spymaster Chronicles, Bk 3) by C. W. Gortner is the third book in the Tudor series of a good, good series which I rate at four stars. Brendan Prescott is the key character who is devoted to the new queen, Elizabeth. Though he is of royal birth he has no interest in obtaining the throne. He just wants to settle somewhere with his beloved, Kate. However, the political needs of the queen draw him always deeper into political intrigue and he comes very close to losing his life. Well done. Last Edited on: 8/9/21 1:11 PM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

Hello! Just finished The Butterfly Cabinet by Bernie McGill, which was actually pretty good. It never turned out to be a big shocking surprise reveal thing, but there were a few twists. |

Hello! Wow! We're quiet this month! I'm still listening to St. Peter's Fair by Ellis Peters (only a couple of hours left), and I'm reading The Devil in the Marshalsea, which I'm kind of having a hard time getting into, but I've been distracted by some non-fiction reading. |
