Mr. Chairman, Before I proceed to the business of the day, I beg leave to propose a vote of thanks to our former chairman, Tristram Kennedy, Esq. for his gentlemanly and impartial conduct in the chair, and to express the happiness, which in common with my Rev. friends, I feel in having him virtually present in the gentle, man of his choice -- Adam Schoales, Esq. (Carried with acclamation.) I shah1, Sir, commence the Discussion this day by quoting a passage from St. Vincentius of Lerens, who flourished about the middle of the fifth century, a few years after the council of Ephesus, which was held in the year 431.
