This book gives a fairly good idea of the feelings and day-to-day struggles among average British citizens during WWII. This was, of course, Vol. II of a two-part series, and, having read Vol. I as an introduction, it was inevitable to get caught up in the lives of these people and to feel their losses. A typical Delderfield-style book.
The only drawbacks were the misspellings and bad editing by the publisher which was unexpected. However, it IS a mass market paperback so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised.

This second installment of The Avenue is just as good as the first. Involving read as we follow the residents of Manor Park Avenue into WWII, both in England and abroad. Again, seamless writing as the author takes you from one resident's story to the next. I hated to see this book end as the characters had become friends. Like books about the British homefront during WWII? I highly recommend this book and series!
