I've been waiting for almost 6 weeks on a Box of books that I traded with another member. I sent mine right out, she received it a week later. I went to look her up and ask why I hadnt received the 3 books I traded with her yet.. and I notice she is no longer a member. So, how nice.

I just robbed on 3 of my books. Thanks [name deleted]

Anything at all we can do about this? To make sure people arnt theives before sending off books?

I'm not sure it's appropiate to post her name in the forums here... just thinking if someone had an issue with me, I wouldn't want them to put my name out there like that. I'm just trying to walk in her shoes - maybe something seriously bad happened...

I agree with Taleah - please edit and remove her name.  There's no way to know what her situation is.

It's possible r&r booted her. But I agree that it's not okay to post her name.

I have a BoB request similar to that on my pending page. I packaged and mailed. She received. All I see on her side of the transactions is 'Printed' ... and it's been over a month. I did PM her; no response yet.

Yep, I have one of those, too...coming up on 2 months here in just a few days, this person is no longer a member, either.   I keep thinking I need to PM RR, but it's not something I have taken the time to do.  The question of feedback isn't always effective...IIRC ,my person has just 1 or 2 bobs so far, but they were positive.    The thing is, too, we can't know.....Perhaps we all got taken, just plain taken.  But perhaps this member (and my member, or any other member who disappeared)  had a life-altering crisis and books was the least of her worries...perhaps this member passed away!  I realize this is an extreme thought, I'm just saying.....we have no way to know.   (As Rhonda already said. :-)

By all means, PM R&R if you are having trouble with a swap, but it really is helpful not to just assume the worst.

So here's another  one!  I checked, and AFTER I posted my box, this person has decided to no longer be a member.  I have been a member of PBS for all of 10 days, and I'm already burned!

I'm not boxing anymore.  Not for awhile.  WHY does someone do this???

Wanda, I am so sorry you have had such an experience, not only at all, but especially since you have been a member only 10 days.  I just want to assure you that the vast majority of folks in this club are wonderful people who will bend over backwards to do whatever they can to help you, and are not here to try to take something from you.  First, I would suggest that, if you haven't done so, to contact the Tour Guide assigned to you and let him/her know what happened.  Second, please also contact the leaders of this club using the "contact us" link which you will find at the bottom of every page.  You will see them referred to as R&R in these forums.  I am really glad you have joined PBS and I hope you won't have any other negative experiences as you go along.

Paula-

No offense, but I don't really understand your complaint. Your profile indicates that you are not a "boxer" or box of books member. There is feedback for boxers so at least you know that other people have had good deals. It is an $8 yearly fee for that service, where you trade books evenly without using credits. If you were trading books through this site on your own, then I doubt anyone is going to be able to help you. ETA: If you mean you sent someone a book (or box of books) for credits, and the person quit, I believe you will still automatically get your credits, you might have to use the "contact us" button though to get help.

Angie - It's possible that she is a boxer and has her boxer status on hold until she resolves this.  I am a boxer - but since I only have 3 books on my shelf right now my boxer status is on hold - therefore not showing me as being a boxer.

I know that it's frustrating when things like this happen.  It happened to me when I was a boxer, it was a one book exchange she received the book I sent and then dropped off the face of PBS and was listed as no longer an account holder.  Over a year later I received a credit and a message stating that at that time she had multiple tragedies in her life and she was sorry that she had left me hanging for a year. I know I am probably a minority in actually being compensated after all that time, but there is hope.

I have about 10 BOBs now that I've not received my books over the course of the past year.  With the exception of 1, where the other person responded to my PM and gifted me 2 credits, the others have just ignored my PMs.  Their FB in general were good so maybe I was just unlucky!  But just as in real life, there will be some unpleasant encounters and I'm not letting those negative ones ruin my boxing experience.  But I do wish there is something other than leaving negative FB.  Several of my bad trades are no longer Boxers but still are trading merrily along here on PBS.

Lori-

Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't realize it took the icon away when you put it on hold.

My profile DID reflect my Box of Book status, until I put it on hold following the experience described above.

I assure all, I paid the fee and was boxing (five completed now) until this happened.  It may yet be resolved.  If so, I will release the hold on my boxing and try again.

Until I chose to put my boxing on hold (following this experience), I assure you my profile did reflect my boxing.  And yes, I paid the $8 fee and have completed five "boxes" (some for one book, but that's fine) as well.

The icon didn't used to go away.

They changed it a while ago so it does when you have your BoB on hold.  You don't show as a boxer on the confirmation screen for an order either.

Which I cheer as an excellent change, as it was quite annoying to see "boxer" and then discover they weren't.  I may have been unlucky, but for a while the majority of boxer shelves I tried to visit were on hold.  Very frustrating.

(I'm not a boxer atm, but I will be again if I see a boxer with things I want.  I had a shelf of 7 books when it lapsed, and haven't had the time to go looking for a box--and figure I'll spend the money when I do!)

All the more reason to realize my decision to not be a boxer is the correct one.  Although I love this site and am very active I've already had my fair share of problems with water marred books, a book never sent but marked as sent (never heard from the sender) and a member lying to me and PBS about not receiving a book I sent first class so she could get her credit back.

Boxing isn't something I would want to trust at the momen, sorry to say.

I'm going to give it another try and have turned it back on . . .

Never know!

I have done over 200 box trades for over 600 books. Yep, I got cheated out of two bobs for a total of 6 books, and got two books that had water damage. But, 8 books out of 600??? I'm not gonna complain too much, and I'm surely not going to give up on all those other wonderful Bobbers just because of 4 lousy ones!

Hey! I even was one of those lousy Bobbers once! I sent a book that I didn't check close enough. We worked it out tho! I gave her a credit for the bad book, and we went on from there. I love BoB and would never give it up!

I received an empty BOB box today. The other boxer did have a few negative feedbacks, so I wonder how she'll respond to my message.

Wow, Bren--an Empty box???   Did it have a PO sticker indicating weight?  Wonder what your trader will say.

I'm sorry that I don't end up boxing with everyone.  I DO look carefully at all lists when I get a boxing request!
