I *LOVE* the idea of one sticky thread for the monthy topics ... everytime I come in looking for one, it seems to have fallen to page 8 or something .. or I scroll by it and can't find it .... I'll admit it ... I'm a dweeb .....

How about we cease and desist on all the CAPS, ********* and @@@@@@ - they are just annoying and as for me, I just ignore the posts that have them which is just the opposite of what their intent is.  This isn't EBay......

Bernie; I hope you don't mind but I put a couple of answers to members who can post in the monthly threads instead of separate entries.  If we all keep doing this, it CAN help clean up the clutter on the Book Bazaar.  OK if I do this?  I can be your BB helper? Let me know.  Also, I have a suggestion for another monthly thread:  How about a "AUGUST...2-4-1 DEALS?  It could clean up some clutter!

I don't mind at all. Thanks for doing that. I know that some folks think their posts will have more impact by being a single post and just keep doing what they are doing. *shrug* I know I have pmed a few folks about stuff and was just ignored. Go for it!

I personally wouldn't want someone to have to stroll through a whole month's worth of 2 for 1's to get to mine.   I love the monthy "What are you looking for" and the "Different ISBN" one.   But if I offer a deal, I want people to SEE it when they open the Book Bazaar.    Just MY opinon - for what it's worth.   Thanks!

Edited to add?   I think desist on all the CAPS, ********* and @@@@@@ is going too far.   We are wanting the Book Bazaar to be user friendly and telling people what they can and can not use is just over the top.     While it may aggraviate some - it might catch the eye of others.  We don't want to get in the mode of policeing every little thing.    Again - JUST my opinion.

I agree Cozette.  I look for romance deals a lot and I avoid the  "August Whatever" listings.  It's frustrating looking at tons of "Deal Gone" or lined out posts while trying to find someone who still has books available.  I really don't understand the reasoning behind grouping the likes together.  But I'm not a neatnick or overly organized person, maybe thats why.  I'm also not impatient, but I'd rather see each person's offerings as I scroll throught the Bazaar.  I guess the 'different ISBN's' and the 'Unpostables' and the 'What are you looking for are' good for some people, but I rarely look at them cuz they contain so much "gone" stuff.  To me that's a big waste of time.   I've posted in a few of these and never got any requests.

What does catch my eye is the people that put the genre and the deal (3-1, book name, or whatever) right in the subject line.  Be direct and concise and that will eliminate eye clutter.

And speaking of eye clutter.  I've got to say nothing turns me off someones posts more that having lots of unrelated quotes and photos at the bottom.   Again, it's frustrating to have to slog through all the words and realize you are reading someone's favorite quote for the 9th time today.   Just a pet peeve.  Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm more apt to read a clean posts than an overly decorated one.  IMO, we should save that stuff for our bookshelves.  Please don't take offense, we all have preferences, these are mine.  8-D     KK

Mary C K., you can turn off signatures and blinkies in your settings tab so you don't have to look at them.

And I'm bumping this thread so it stays on the first page:)

bumping because it was waaaay down but also because...

I've been looking at alot of different deals and "bumped up, added to" deals and am noticing that there are still many, many books with no covers or descriptions.  You will have much better luck with your deal if people can at least read what the book is about.  I know that uploading covers isn't a possibility for everyone but at the very least go through your list and edit the book info to include the blurb on the back of the book or the inside flap of the jacket.  You'll get lots better reponse if you do.  Good luck and keep those books movin'!

Don't know if anyone mentioned this, but PLEASE read the sticky thread at the top of this forum entitled: How To Use This Forum

So many mistakes and problems can be avoided by simply reading that thread, and the HELP CENTER! :)

Special Thanks to Bernie for being our Czar. :)

Shouldn't Bernie be a BBCzaress?

And Lita - we've all made our share of mistakes in the beginning (and sometimes still do)...so don't you worry!  Just glad to see you participating!

It just goes to show that it takes all kinds to make the world. While some have complained about the "CAPS, ********* and @@@@@@" things in subjects, I was going to suggest that the monthly topics be sure to always use them (altho not as long as Susan did this month with the WLs w/ Different ISBN, no offense Susan :) but it really helps me to find them. And so far, it appears as if the regular posters don't use them much, and that makes the regular monthly topics even more findable.

WB, Bernie.  I like Bridget's idea of having that sticky with those Monthly's listed.  LIke the Arcs - that way people new to the BB will know there is one to look for and add theirs instead of starting a new one, help keep separate t hreads down and easier to keep up with I think rather than scrolling through so many threads.  I just go to the last post , back track a bit and catch up from where I last read.

Pam

I do agree with you Sherry on using the special characters for the monthly threads; that is a great way to flag them.  Actually I was going to come back and edit my post to reflect that but never did.   I just meant the regular deal threads - I guess it's one of those things that makes this feel really commercial to me.  JMO tho.  Thanks for clarifying.

I was just wondering if there was an "August Spotlight Your Audios" post...I haven't been able to find one, but haven't been on the board much this month so I didn't know.

You know,  when I see a dozen posts originating from the same member saying "look at my shelf" or something similar, I probably won't bother to go look.

It really helps if you say "just posted lots of romance" or "check out my shelf I have YA, teen and children's"

Just my opinion.
