Baby Critter Quilt Quilting patterns Author:Norma Locke Making quilts for special babies in our lives is one of the joys that should never be missed. This quilt was made for my own grandson, Kevin Richard Cook, who was born on Dec 27, 1989. He will never be able to forget me as long as he has this quilt, as it is signed and dated: "From Grandma With Love, Feb. 1990" and my name is signed --- "Norm... more »a Nellie Locke".
The designs used on the Baby Critter Quilt were inspired by a purchase I made during a trip to China and Hong Kong a few years ago. Actually, the item I purchased was a wall organizer with pockets made of fabri. It was colorful and perfect for my 2nd grandchild who was expected to arrive before we got home from our trip.
The animal designs used on the organizer are a bit different in shape than those we normally see and I modified them to make them my own special patterns.
I bought colorful fabric. I chose red for the sashing strips because in China, red is considered a happy color. White was chosen for the background blocks and the animal appliques use many colors.
The quilting design was the fish. In China you find many fish farms.
The designs may be enlarged or reduced. My quilt used only 8-inch squares.
