Darden State Hospital is taking its toll on Trey Campbell, a psychiatrist for the criminally insane. Haunted by patients' anguished screams and broken minds, Dr. Campbell needs to get away, and Catalina Island is just the sanctuary he and his family have been looking for. Peaceful and isolated, it's a place where he thought no one would be able to find them...
Agnes Hatcher is the most brilliant and brutal psychopath at Darden state. In her twisted fantasies she shares an unbreakable karma with the man she believes to be her devoted lover. But this weekend Trey has abandoned her. And Agnes is feeling very unforgiving...
Now darkness has fallen on the Campbells' isolated retreat. A diabolical game of wits is about to begin. Because what Agnes has planned for Trey and his family is beyond anything any of them can imagine...

This is the first of the series of Darden Mental Hospital written by Douglas Clegg under the Harper name. This was very good and fast paced. Since I read this series backwards now some of the things make sense.

Okay, this book was not written yesterday, but WOW. It was so darn good! A lot on the graphic side. If you don't like blood and guts, do not order this book. The end of each chapter is a cliff hanger. Why didn't Harper write more books. DARDEN State Hospital is a place for the worst of the worst of the criminally insane. "Gorgon" escapes and goes on a spree. Don't miss this exceptionally well written book.
