The Bait of Satan exposes one of the most deceptive snares Satan uses to get believers out of the will of God -- offense. Most people who are ensnared by the bait of Satan don't even realize it.
Don't be fooled! You will encounter offense, and it's up to you how it will affect your relationship with God. Your response will determine your future. If offense is handled correctly, you will become stronger rather than bitter.

I'm not an avid reader, but this was an easy read. Easy in the sense that it is conversational.
This is not written as a preachy, high-brow, "do this" sermon. This is a roadmap to freedom from the heart of one who knows well the shackles of offense because he was deeply wounded by those who were supposed to protect him. He can show us the way out because he has walked it himself.
This book is challenging because it takes us places we've locked away and tried hard to convince ourselves no longer exist. But John knows the only way to redeem those broken hearts and crushed spirits is through the wounded wilderness. We have to face our pasts, expose them to the light of Jesus, and let Him apply His balm. Then we can leave behind the bait of offense that Satan wants us to consume; turn from bitterness, resentment, and pride; and run to the feet of Jesus to worship with abandon the One who created us to Love.
