In a medium size bowl thoroughly crush cookies. Add 4 Tbs of melted butter and mix. Place in an ungreased cake pan. Shape doesn't matter. Pat cookie mix across the bottom and along the sides of the pan to create the crust. Bake at 275* for 15 minutes. Just enough to set the crust. Remove and let cool.
While crust is baking...In large bowl add 1 tsp vanilla, package of cream cheese and Cool Whip and beat until smooth.
Pour onto cooled crust and spread mixture evenly. Place in refridgerator to chill and set. Add pie filling for topping when read to serve.
Number of servings will vary on size of cake pan. If you prefer you can buy a ready made cookie pie crust. Cheesecake will be thicker due to smaller size of pan.
