Who remembers these?

As a kid, I loved Ballet Shoes, and the skating one which I knew as White Boots, but I think it is published as Skating Shoes here. I just did a search on Amazon hoping to find an omnibus copy with all the Shoes stories in one volume, but no such luck. It looks like they are out of print. However, there were some titles on there that I'd never heard of ... like Theater Shoes, Tennis Shoes, Party Shoes...

Who can give me a definitive list of the Shoes books? And tell me a little bit about the others that I've never heard of? Are they any good??

These are the books I could find in the "Shoe" series.  I have not read them (I read one book in a series to see if I like it, then I collect the rest and read them when I have all the books in the series.)  I read a few of her other books (Children on the Top Floor, Thursday's Child, When the Siren Wailed) and liked them.

  1. Ballet Shoes (1936)
  2. Tennis Shoes (1937)
  3. The Circus is Coming (1938) (also published as: Circus Shoes)
  4. Curtain Up (1944) (also published as: Theater Shoes)
  5. Party Frock (1946) (also published as: Party Shoes)
  6. The Painted Garden (1949) (significantly abridged and published in the U.S. as: Movie Shoes)
  7. White Boots (1951) (also published as: Skating Shoes)
  8. The Bell Family (1954) (also published as: Family Shoes)
  9. Wintle's Wonders (1957) (also published as: Dancing Shoes)
  10. Apple Bough (1962) (also published as: Traveling Shoes)
  11. Ballet Shoes for Anna (1972)

Barbara, THANK YOU!!! I also had The Circus is Coming and the Painted Garden as a child, I had totally forgotten about those books! I had no idea they were considered part of the 'Shoes' series.... I also had When the Siren Wailed and Thursday's Child... wow, you have just brought back some memories!

This gives me something to work on! Thank you!
