Probably a dumb question, but how long does a topic run before being *recycled*? It's up to 79 pages, and wondering if the offerings on page 1-10 from 2008 are still valid. .......or if a topic runs this long because there is archival value in keeping such a long list? There are 79 pages of books being offered, and since most have not been deleted or edited, I assume that means they are still avaialble, or should we just skip down 79 pages to start looking? I have no idea how far back I should be looking for books.....

Other than red sticky threads and the Wish List Multiples, none of the threads in the Bazaar are official threads and were therefore just started by someone randomly who wanted to organize a thread. If you think it needs to be cleaned up, you can always start a new one and post in the old one that you are trying to start a new clean thread and would everyone post books they still have in the new thread. I usually start at the end of those types of threads and work my way up. I probably lose patience before I get through all the posts that are still available. |

Thanks so much, Melanie. I think I WOULD like to clean it up, but didn't know if I was allowed, and also, didn't want to step on any toes of person who originally started the topic. Maybe I should PM them and ask if they mind? I just find it annoying to go to page 79 every time I'm looking for a book, but it also occurred to me there might be a *reason* the topic has gotten so long and needs to stay that way? If that is the case of course I don't want to change anything. I'm just thinking that WL unpostables from early 2008 are possibly 1) not WL anymore, or 2) not available anymore or 3) members may not even be here anymore ---- so there is probably no incentive to request the books. :)

Laura, you might try contacting one of the 2 members who oversee the Book Bazaar for guidance. From the official "How to Use This Forum" thread: " Amanda S (ABCatHome) and Bernie N. (Bernie) are the Book Bazaar Czars; they know the ins and outs of the Book Bazaar and if you have any questions, they're your go-to-girls!" Also, it does say about the non-sticky recurring threads: "Recurring threads (ie, "April Wishlist Books With Different ISBNs") are not sticky; like all regular topics, they will "archive off" the site if they are not posted in regularly. A topic that is not posted in for 45 days will be removed from the Forum." |

Like Melanie said, I usually start at the end of those really long threads and work my way backwards. It's sometimes confusing that way, but at least it's more likely the items are still available. If I do find something in the early part o a thread, I usually just pm the person and ask if the offer is still good.

What Cozi said, I just use the shortcut to the last page (and rarely notice the total length of the thread). A number of PBS members don't seem to know how to edit their posts, so I would assume if the book(s) were posted more than a week ago (or a couple thread pages) they probably are no longer available. |

I don't use those threads for that reason. They should be restarted more often and not run for months and years. |

Cozette and Kim Yeah, I know I can navigate in the topic any way I want. What I want to know is: How much of that is essential? Otherwise, I feel like you are presenting me with this analogy: e "you have 77 items in your refrigerator that are stale, and several years old----- but rather than trash them and start with a clean slate, why not just push them out of the way in order to get to the fresh yogurt you bought a few days ago. " And, if I saw the *purpose* of navigating past 77 pages where most of the informaiton is "dead" (i.e., WL books from 2008, soon to be 4 year old posts) I would certainly do it. :) But the reason I started this question was to find out IF that old information is essential, or if a new Wishlist Unpostables can be started. I mean, if there's a reason for keeping the posts from 2008, then that's fine. If there's not, then why have to navigate 70-something pages----for no reason? I would be happy to take responsbility and *revive* the topic by reposting it with *2011* in the title. :) I've just been waiting to make sure it's okay.
