This is my uncle's memoir of his career as a wildlife biologist in Alaska from the 1950s to 1981. If you're especially interested in wildlife conservation and/or Alaska, you'll probably enjoy these stories about his experiences, both humorous and frightening, and his role in conservation efforts. His previous book, Into Brown Bear Country, is of more general interest, with bear facts and plenty of beautiful color photography.

I think he does a excellent job of capturing the essence of his experience without becoming tedious. Besides detailing particularly memorable events, he also picks a few more typical days to give an idea of what his job was like. His career really was amazing and allowed him to see wild places few others have experienced.
