Entertaininjg Chick Lit from the author of Running in Heels and Getting Over it. This one is about a matchmaker who has trouble getting her own love life in order. Cute and funny.

For me this book was a little rocky at first but then I got into it.

Modern women don't believe in love. Believing in love carries roughly the same stigma as halitosis. It's old-fashioned as going on a diet (as opposed to a detox).
..........I know all that and yet I do believe in love.

With her first two irresistible novels, Anna Maxted won the hearts of readers everywhere. Now, in Behaving Like Adults, she introduces us to twenty-nine-year-old Holly, the sunny, optimistic owner of Girl Meets Boy, a dating service for those who are "beautiful inside and out." She's ambitious- and successful-with her matchmaking, but she hasn't quite fulfilled her own relationship dreams (her ex-fiancé, Nick, seems unlikely to progress from his job as Mr. Elephant, children's party entertainer). So when her friends dare her to pick a man off the top of the pile, she's game.

But in one awful evening the perfect-on-paper Stuart turns out to be a thorough cad, and Holly's belief in the goodness of humanity takes a hit. How can she make good matches when she can no longer trust her ability to read people? What does this mean for her business-and her romantic future? Holly's friends and colleagues are drawn into the complicated drama of her life, while Holly learns her most important lesson: to trust herself.
A must read of Anna Maxted's many fans, Behaving Like Adults is a rueful and hilarious novel of men and women growing up - in spite of themselves.

Definitely not your typical chick-lit that I usually am drawn to. Though there are several witty and entertaining characters, the core of the story deals with the serious issue of date rape and the aftermath. The author does an excellent job of drawing you into Holly's life as she tries to cope with her experience while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy in her life. Though she stumbles along the way, she proves to herself that she is a survivor.

Several sub-plots involving Holly's sisters, parents and friends that I found intriguing as well.

I read this book with high hopes after enjoying another of Anna Maxted's books. It was OK, but not funny like the "Getting Over It"
