What a thriller! I have had this book on my shelf with the sequel for a few weeks and I was just able to work it into the schedule. A woman in the mining industry who is holding her own amongst the men ends up in the middle of not one but two murder investigations that are clearly linked, but how?

With each thriller/suspense that I read I love the genre even more. This one definitely held up to those big name suspense authors. A little on the gory side, but packed full of who dun its. I found myself in the middle of the book waffling between two characters and I just couldn't put my finger on the real culprit. I loved this. Nothing irks me more than the person who is the killer only popping up in the end of the book with no way to guess of his involvement.

Brannan effortlessly weaves the killer in and out of the reader's thoughts, while giving hints but no definite clues. A must read for those who love a good suspense but watch out because the reader has a bird's eye view when the murders occur.

This is a thriller! A touch gruesome when some of the wounds are described. This involves a serial killer who does not use the same method to kill his victims each time. I had no idea who dun it, in fact suspected another person right along with the investigator. My highest recommendation is I have the next book in the series to read. I don't read one after another in a series but will be picking up the next very soon!

Met this writer and a thriller/mystery writer book conference last year and really liked her. I obtained a signed copy of book 3 in the series Widow's Might but wanted to start with the first one. This book was like a huge ride on a roller coaster. This will have you on the edge of your seat until the end. It consumed me for 24 hours (with breaks for eating and sleeping). I was so impressed with the book, sat down and sent her an email to tell her how much I enjoyed it (and yes, she did reply). I'm about to start on book 2 Lot's Return to Sodom and have book 4 in series. Great story teller with lots of twists and turns and you will very involved with the characters.

Sandra Brannan's first installment in the Liv Bergen Mystery Series is a serial killer story unlike others. Peppered with wit, self-deprecation, and moments of stunning brutality, In the Belly of Jonah magically captures the intense paths of both the serial killer and the one in which to stop him. This killer is freakish, elusive, but generally "normal," inasmuch as someone who likes to kill, can be. Liv is honest and real, innocently figuring out each step of the puzzle to its frightening conclusion. Liv is a smart chick who can easily hold her own with the best of them - whether they are part of her quarry-mining team or with the FBI, she's not one to back down. And in this story, she can't back down because whether she likes it or not, she has a serial killer to stop.

If you like Harlan Coban and Patricia Cornwall, you should probably rush right out to get this one for your bookshelf.
