Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ
Ben-Hur A Tale of the Christ
Author: Lew Wallace
A spiritual tale of the quest for love, the recovery of identity and patrimony, Ben-Hur never fails to delight in its detail and realism. As David Mayer's introduction makes explicit, Ben-Hur is marked by traces of contemporary issues and American Victorian concerns and tensions which shed important light on social and cultural history.

If you say, "I've seen the movie," and pass on reading the book, what a mistake that you'll make. As usual, Hollywood chopped up the book, focused half the movie on an action portion (the chariot race), and missed the real meat of the book. Read the book. It is outstanding.
