Written between 1921 and 1933, these are representative of Benchleys best nonsense anecdotes and essays. The short, two-page ones are my favorites; his longer endeavors tend to be a tad wearisome. Anyway here is a rival for Thurber and Leacock. While there is much nostalgia in this compilation, some still hit it right on the mark: consider Football Rules or Whatever They Are.
