My daughter loves books (yay!) and we've got an impressive collection of books for her, but I'm always on the lookout for really good ones - she loves books with familiar characters (Spongebob, Dora, Strawberry Shortcake) but honestly, I hate reading those!! I thought I'd start a thread for books WE like to read too for kids this age: Chicka-Chicka - there's the ABC one and I just got the 1-2-3 from the library and it's great! Oh, it's early and my brain's slow- I'll post more later when I can go in there and look around! |

Just got into here looking for new things but I think it's great that your daughter and you spend time reading together. I still read with my daughter and she's going into junior high next year. One of our favorite books was I'll love you Forever by Robert Munsch if I read that once I readit a zillion times and another is Mamma Do you still Love Me? by Barbara Lavallee this has become our catch phrase especilly when she thinks she's getting by with something cute and the answer is always " I'll love forever and always because you are my dear one." Keep reading with her the memories you're making will last forever. |

Guess How Much I Love You (I tear up just thinking about this book.) Daddy is a Doodlebug (The kids still say this all the time. They are now 10 and 8!) Purple, Green, and Yellow (This one was REALLY fun to read after a while, because I could run through the description of those permanent markers pretty fast. = ) It made our daughter giggle! If you don't know what I'm talking about, find this book and read it!) Dr. Seuss' ABC's (I memorized this with one of my aunts when I was a little girl, so it was one of my all-time favorite books to share with my own kids. They could hold the book however they liked, because I didn't need to see it to 'read' it to them.) |

I have a three year old that loves Biscuit. They are fun to read and he knows them by heart. He also likes Rainbow Fish. |

My daughter loved Biscuit and Ten Little Ladybugs as well. Similar to Ten Little Ladybugs, we enjoyed, What Makes a Rainbow, too. As far as the cartoon characters, have you tried Bear in the Big Blue House? We had tons of those and they were much more palatable for me and all have sweet little lessons. My daughter still sings "just say ow, say it now, just say ow and it's over" when she gets shots at the doctor's office - thank you, bear!! - Tracy ___________________________ Always 3 for 1 on children's books on my shelf.
