To some extent, for me, The Betrayals by Bridget Collins makes an attempt at an intellectual or spiritual point through the unexplained idea of a âgrand jeuâ. Either it does so unsuccessfully, or my intellect does not reach the understanding. At the end of the book, I am left wondering. What did I just read? And why? I walk away, knowing that I was clearly not the right reader for this book.
